Ryleigh's Pink Dino Party!

Ryleigh's birthday party was last month. There has been so much going on in our house and I've been trying to organize everything with Girl Scouts that I didn't have an opportunity to post this yet! I figured I had to get it in before Christmas and New Year's.

She has a undeniable love for Dinosaurs and when I asked what kind of party she wanted she specifically called for PINK Dinosaurs! We had custom printables designed by myself, a Dino Adoption, and a smoking lava cake! See more deets and get your free printables!

Hello Kitty Birthday!

It's been almost a month since this precious girl turned 6. This was a hard birthday for this mama. She is my oldest and I couldn't help but reminisce of when I turned 6. It's the earliest birthday I can remember of my own. I look back to that day that I turned 6 thinking I was changed and different. Thinking that I was growing up and I started to feel much older. LOL at only 6 I had those feelings.

Perhaps it was from this memory that this birthday for my little girl was a little tougher than the previous. The years are going by so fast and I'm just wanting to take a step back and enjoy the present.

My sweetheart has been so in love with Hello Kitty for some time now and I was excited to decorate her party for what she loved so much! We bought her this cute dress from Target and paired it with a pair of black leggings and the Hello Kitty hat. You can't see it now, but there is a Kitty on that hat.

Sweets Table

I generally don't like to give out candy at a birthday party. Yes... I am one of those moms that prefers non-sugar party favors but the colors and the idea just seemed so much easier this year. The kids always get a kick out of it, too. So it's a winner!

I found these cute polka dot take out boxes from the dollar spot at Target. The colors went well with the rainbow color theme. My wonderful friend

Denise

helped me with all the printables for this party including the lovely "thank you" sticker labels on the boxes. I filled the boxes with colored tissue left over from the

tissue tassel project

.

The Cake

I found a Hello Kitty cake pan on clearance months ago from Joann Fabrics. I used a marshmallow fondant for the white frosting. For the eyes, whiskers, and bow I used black and red sparkle icing. For the nose, I rolled up some of the marshmallow fondant and used some leftover yellow food coloring to paint it on the nose. Bella really loved the cake!!

Hello Kitty Fruit Skewers

I wish I could tell you where I saw this idea. Honestly, I found it years ago and it came to me when planning the party. I used the edible pens to draw the faces on the marshmallows.

Table Tent Food Labels

Denise also assisted in this department. She made me some custom food tents as well as some extra blank tents!

Those are a few details for our Hello Kitty Party! What do ya think?

Ryleigh's 3rd Pony Birthday Party

My youngest turned 3 last month and I finally managed to get some pictures up of her party. It's been such a whirl wind lately with finishing up my degree, Girl Scouts, and work. I just have one week left to feel the freedom from school!!

She is in love with all things pony so naturally that was the theme. I a little down on myself because once the guests started arriving the camera was put down... even for the singing of the birthday song:(

I had vases of pink and cream gerbera daisies all around. It was such a pretty detail. I got the flowers at Trader Joe's. I just love their selection and they always have exactly what I am looking for.

Party favors were presented in paper goody bags. I cut a doily up in 4 quarters and used rubber cement to add them as an accent to the bags. The doilies were purchased from the Dollar Store. I used a chalk marker to write "Thank You" on each of the bags. You can pick those up at Walmart or a craft store.

I made the cake myself. I had this elaborate plan but when it came down to the night before and I didn't have the right cake pan I went with the tried and true 9 inch cake with the rose frosting details. This method of frosting is super easy to accomplish and everyone always compliments me on it. We had a left over pony from having extra party favors so that was part of the topper along with a "Ryleigh" sign. I used pink chevron straws, that I purchased from Walmart, as the poles to hold up the sign.

I think it turned out really cute!

I also added the sprinkled doughnut holes for fun and whimsy.

Cowboy and cowgirl hats were strung up for each kid to wear throughout the party.

The kids loved this idea!

Sneek Peak: Tangled Party Invitation

Here is a preview of some exciting Tangled Birthday Party goodness!!! I created these invites myself with the Rapunzel graphic I purchased here. It's so easy to create your own digi invites!

You can also purchase backgrounds, frames and fonts to make your invitations unique and custom!

If you don't have the fancy Adobe Illustrator or any CS6, you can simply use Microsoft Publisher, which should be included in a Microsoft Office package you probably purchased with your computer.

I am thinking about writing a post for a step by step on how to create your own digital invites. Is this something you all would be interested? Email me if you have any questions on this!

Thirty Something Bucket List

Photo: HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE!!!! I HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!
It's been over a week now that I have reluctantly celebrated my 30th fiesta. While so much has changed in the past year, reality has awakened me to realize I have more work than ever to get started on.

I had a quarter-life crisis last year turning 29 and had a whole year to cope with the fact that I'm no longer a spring chicken. One of the things I did want to work on, my over all health, I have failed miserably at. Within the last few months, I've completely let that task go and was brutally made aware after viewing some pictures from my surprise birthday soiree my hubby threw me. Yeah, he's sweet like that!

Over the past week, I indulged in a makeover session to which I found that I was sporting the wrong hair style all along. I also managed to shot my first gun ever! I was terrified and made me realize how dangerous these things are!

Turning 30 has made me re-evaluate my life and with the closing of our very first home next week, I have created a bucket list of the things I hope to accomplish for this next year.

  1. Get healthy and fit.
  2. Grow an organic garden.
  3. Devote more time to my blog development
  4. Work towards a Proverbs 31 wife.
  5. Devote more time to prayer
  6. Be more environmentally conscience and educate myself on self sustainability.
  7. Be more present for my children and by present I mean engaged not just physically there.
  8. Finish my Bachelor's in Communications (expected Oct 2014)
  9. Write an eBook
  10. Start up my own business.... already in the works!
  11. Get a tattoo
  12. Make our new home into a haven.
  13. Learn how to handle a gun.

Maybe someday I will share my life long bucket list:)

Do any of you write bucket lists? What is your number one?

Minnie Mouse Digital Invites

When you don't have the time to create handmade invites (or money) creating your own digital invites can be a great solution. Here are a few Minnie Mouse invites I have created in the past! There are some great websites to download your own fonts. I found the

Waltograph

font for free!! You can also find some backgrounds and graphics. Some are free and some you may have to purchase but it's worth it when you think of how much time and money you would normally spend.

Tips to start you off designing your own invite

  • First you want to select the appropriate size of your document (I recommend a 5 x 7 or 4 x 6)
  • Pick a back round that compliments your theme... colors, shapes, patterns, graphic.
  • Look for graphics or create your own.
  • Search and pick a font that you like best.
  • Consider adding in a picture.. make sure it's a good one!

DIY TinkerBell Invitations

Well if you couldn't have already guessed it.... Bella's birthday party theme is....

Tinkerbell and a Neverland Party!!!

Peter Pan is one of her favorite movies and I knew how much she would love a Tink party! I am generally not a person to purchase anything I can do myself. When it comes to invitations, I always like to create them myself. Microsoft Publisher is a great tool and I have managed navigate through it fairly easily. So I came up with this design! What do you think?

It was pretty easy to create and there are many free graphics out there if you know where to search. As long as your not selling and they are for personal use, you should be okay with using free graphics! The key is searching for a PNG graphic.

If any of you are interested in the FREE editable version email me!! I can send you my publisher file so you can make changes! Don't for get to show some love and subscribe!

More party ideas to come! Come back soon!
